The dream for Superior Outdoor Products started in 1978 when John Lapp started fabricating dog fences and kennels in an old chicken house on his farm.
Whether you need vinyl fencing, railing, pergolas, or profiles, Superior Outdoor Products has the experience and style to help you achieve your dream.
In the late 1980s, John saw an opportunity in a new fencing market: vinyl fencing.
He expanded his production to include vinyl fence panels, and immediately began thinking of how to make vinyl better. In 1991, he began working with poly lumber.
Recognizing its durability and low maintenance, he started inventing his own machinery to bring his vinyl ideas to production: gates, brackets, and other fencing products that worked better and longer than the available product lines.
John’s son Reuben took over the company in 2007, right when it encountered its first major test: the economic crash of 2008.
During this time, Reuben led his team through some necessary changes as the company adapted. The most notable change was the 2008 launch of the KeyLink® aluminum railing system in 2008.
After the economy recovered, Superior began extruding its own vinyl profiles in 2010. In 2015, it added an on-site powder-coating facility as well.
Today, Superior Outdoor Products continues to be a family-owned and run company built on John Lapp’s legacy of innovation, entrepreneurship, and being a vinyl production leader!
